The Mindset way / Build your difference, not your plumbing
Starting from scratch is fine, at first

For a prototype or a first agent, having your developers build it from scratch is fine, and I would tell any team so. But be clear about what it is: a learning exercise, not intellectual property. Any competitor can build the same agent in the same way. Plenty of companies never need more. The difficulty arrives with the second and third agents, and with every customer. A pilot with a handful of customers is the easy part. The last 10%, getting it ready for everyone, takes 100% of the time.
